School of Hard Knocks

Ever heard of pewters? Pewters are metal alloys made from the combination of tin and copper. In the past, pewter was used to produce daily usable items such as plates, goblets and candlesticks but today, it's used more for decorative items, art pieces and souvenirs.

Here in Kuala Lumpur, Royal Selangor has a Visitor Center where visitors learn about pewters, the making of pewters as well as appreciating pewters. Within the Visitor Center, visitors can have a chance to make their own pewter momento and take it home at the School of Hard Knocks. For RM50 (US$14) you simply cannot afford to miss this chance at hammering your own pewter.

Contact Selangor Pewter at +603-4145 6122 or visit their website at http://www.royalselangor.com/

Underwater World in the City? No Way!

Heh! Contrary to many who believe that Malaysians are clad in sarongs, living amongst the primates and swinging from tree to tree, Malaysia is actually a modern country with world class infrastructures and friendly modernized people.

The latest addition to our modern Kuala Lumpur capital is the Aquaria KLCC. Located on the concourse level of Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, the Aquaria sprawls 60,000 square feet featuring over 5,000 freshwater and marine animals.

View the beauty of our underwater world right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur using the 297-feet underwater viewing tunnel. I bet you will experience an exciting and amazing Aquaria.

Kuala Lumpur Birds-Eye Viewing

When you are at the Kuala Lumpur city centre and would like to have a birds-eye view of the city, you can opt to do it in 2 locations; the Petronas Twin Towers and the Menara Kuala Lumpur.

The Petronas Twin Towers is an 88-storey (1,491 feet high) building located right smack in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. For a birds-eye view, head over to the skybridge that links the 2 towers at the 41st floor.

5 minutes drive away from the Petronas Twin Towers locates the Menara Kuala Lumpur; a 1,389 feet high communications and broadcasting tower that offers an observation deck at 911 feet. Alternative, you can try the revolving restaurant located in Menara Kuala Lumpur itself at 931 feet.

Outside Looking In

A friend of mine from the United States have visited Kuala Lumpur previously and I have always been curious to find out a foreigner's perspective of Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur in particular.

When I read my friend's travel blog, I was both equally amazed and pleased by what he wrote. Contained within his travel blog was Kuala Lumpur attractions as well as Kuala Lumpur highlights; not forgetting his previous stay at Golden Sands Shangri-la Penang Malaysia.

I do urge you to read Kuala Lumpur attractions as my buddy has painstakingly wrote a detailed post on places to visit whilst you are in the capital of Malaysia. It's really a joy to know that my friend truly loved his time here in Malaysia.

Pubs and Bars in Central Kuala Lumpur

There is a large concentration of pubs and bars located at the intersection of Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan P. Ramlee. You can frequent these establishments to quench your thirst after a tiring day or simply to mingle with the local folks.

Owing to the fact that this intersection is jammed packed with bars and pubs, my pals and I (once in a while) would simply hop from one pub to the other. You may be surprised to find that on odd days, some pubs do have special events. Once, I came across free beers and whiskey from 6pm -9pm while on another occasion, a particular bar was auctioning Black Labels to it's patrons.
