Omaha Snow
30 of November 2008
It’s here! Yes, our first real snow of the season is covering Omaha this morning. Nothing too impressive, but the ground is covered, and there’s enough snow on the car that the snow brush will get a quick workout this morning.
Weather Channel says snow showers now and then for today, with less than an inch of accumulation, so our snow shovel will remain unused, at least for now.
The birds are busy at the feeder this morning, and it looks like a refill of the feeder will be needed this morning.
Once I am outdoors refilling the feeder for the birds, I can expected one or two squirrels to show up. The hungrier the squirrels are, the braver and closer they get. Usually though, they stay about 3-4 feet away from me while anticipating a meal, standing on their back feet, with their front paws held together as if begging for food.
As always, I will have to place their food in two separate locations, quite a few feet apart. No matter how much food I put out, they are unwilling to share. Fights will take place as the dominant squirrel refuses to share his (or her) seeds.
Both Ends of the Pedestrian Bridge

End of Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge Omaha
The Omaha Nebraska end of the Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge still has a bit of construction going on when this picture was taken in October 2008. That should make no difference to anyone wanting to cross this new bridge, there is no interference with actual users of the bridge. I must add that the landscaping in progress smelled a bit like a barnyard, but that fertilizer smell should go away.

Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge Council Bluffs
On the Council Bluffs Iowa side, there is a bit more going on. Beneath the bridge construction equipment is busy. Just guessing, but perhaps this will be the addition to what is currently called Playland Park. We can eventually expect some major change in the overall appearance on the Council Bluffs side with the increase in park size, and new projects going on there.
