The dissertation proposal I mentioned in a previous post was recently accepted.
Here is the latest incarnation of the title:
Loanword phonology:
Language proficiency, linguistic transfer and the individual; a comparative study of the pronunciation of English loanwords and non-loanwords by Japanese speakers of English of low and high level proficiency.
I'll have a year from June to complete it - not much at all, really, seeing that I have to actually collect empirical data - which means a lot of time, prep and testing.
I'm also working on another research proposal, which has to be in in around April. I have a fun research topic in mind, but I'll keep it to myself until I have some idea of feasibility.
